Many people don’t realize tattoo artists don’t just put needles to skin. We spend countless hours consulting, researching, designing and drawing- it’s certainly not a job you can leave at work at the end of the day. My mentor taught me that to be successful in this industry you must eat, breathe, and sleep tattoos.

Tattooing is by far the most vulnerable medium-the pressure involved is unimaginable to those outside this profession. It's not a bad hair cut, its forever. If you aren't on point, you could negatively affect someone's life- possibly forever.

You can't pick up your human canvas and work when you're inspired. You must perform for extended periods of time when you may not be "feeling it". Your organic canvas may be one that complains, wiggles, second guesses you, and down right cries or passes out at times.
But after it’s all over and the tattoo is complete, I get to step back and look at the finished product. In an instant all the stress, long hours, and arduous work are all worth it. I'm overwhelmed with a sense of pride and satisfaction that almost stops time for a moment. It’s a rush I can’t compare to anything and it keeps me showing up to work everyday with a smile on my face.

I love the people I am able to work on, and the people I work with- they are truly a blessing. I take lessons from their mistakes, give great hugs, and give and take advice when needed.

I’m so grateful to make a living doing what I love in the most beautiful place in the world. I couldn’t feel more blessed…
